France defeated The Republic of Ireland 2-1 aggregate to qualify for the South Africa 2010 World Cup. The second leg of the play off which saw France qualify for the World Cup ended controversially.
Ireland took the lead early in the encounter but France equalised just before the end of the match to qualify on a 2-1 aggregate. The first leg in Ireland had ended 1-0 in favour of France.
But the result of the second leg which held in France on November 18 has been overshadowed by Thierry Henry’s handling of the ball before making a pass to William Galas who headed the ball past goalkeeper Shay Given of Ireland.
Now the Irish Football Association are asking for a rematch, particularly after Thierry Henry’s confession that he actually handled the ball before the pass. What is your reaction?
