DUTSE—Emir of Dutse in Jigawa state, Alhaji Muhammadu Nuhu Sanusi, has charged the general public to engage in good sanitation to prevent avoidable infections of communicable diseases.
Speaking in his Sallah message, the Emir said communities have a vital role to play in reducing the rate of diseases such as cholera and other related communicable diseases in the society, adding that even though government is doing its best in providing health facilities and drugs, communicable diseases cannot be stopped from spreading unless people take simple preventable measures such as washing their hands before and after eating, washing their hands with soap and water after going to toilet.
Alhaji Muhammadu Nuhu explained that communities must match government’s efforts by ensuring the safety of the food they eat, the purity of the water they drink and cleanliness of their environment. He urged the general public to support the government’s efforts to provide a healthy environment.
