Yenagoa — Elder statesmen and politi-cians drawn from the 6 geo-political zones of the country, yesterday, announced the near completion of the report on the review of the 1999 Constitution, announcing that the meeting of the group, the National Think-Tank in Gombe State, would finalise report on the Constitution.
Though the Technical Committee of the National Think-Tank said the process for the review had not been without its challenges. The meeting of the group in Gombe State, tomorrow, will see the submission of the final report on the final document that will be submitted to the Presidency before the year ends.
In a statement issued, yesterday, and made availa-ble to newsmen in Yenagoa, the Secretariat of the Research Institute and the Technical Committee, led by Professor Abdulahi Mahadi, stated that the Gombe town meeting would put finishing touches to the reviewed document.
He said the meeting for the final documentation and review of the draft constitu-tion will run between Tuesday, November 25 and Wednesday, November 26.
The committee, which was inaugurated early this year, had travelled all over the different states in the country to get input from stakeholders for a more acceptable constitution.
Membership of the review committee is made up of prominent and tested Nigerians drawn from all disciplines and other sundry experts to review the much criticised 1999 Constitution.
