BENIN — GOVERNOR Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, yesterday, called on Nigerians to fervently pray for the quick recovery of President Umaru Yar’Adua to enable him fulfill his vision of a great Nigeria.
In his Eidel-Kabir message, the governor also called on Muslims in the state to pray for the good of the state and country, just as he called on Muslim pilgrims from the state to take advantage of the Hajj to renew themselves spiritually.
In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Tony Iyare, the governor stressed the need for prayers for the president because, “he has shown tremendous goodwill and fatherly disposition towards the people and government of the state.â€
He called on Muslims to re-dedicate their lives to the spiritual essence of the festival, which is a complete submission to the will of Allah in the face of adversity.
“The lesson we must take from Eidel-Kabir is that Allah ultimately rewards the faithful when they are patient and when they appreciate that only He can dispense compassion.
“Although we currently face some difficult times as a nation, we need to be hopeful and prayerful like Prophet Ibrahim, so that God can prosper, renew and bless Nigeria,†Oshiomhole said.
