Pensioner dies awaiting entitlements

Umuahia—A man believed to be a pensioner, yesterday collapsed and died at the gate of Abia State Sub-treasury. Unconfirmed reports said the man collapsed and died at the gate of the Sub-treasury at about 8.30am.
The State Sub-treasury on daily basis, host scores of pensioners, who come for the backlog of their pensions. It is believed the man who collapsed and died was one of them.
The corpse was at the Sub-treasury gate for some time before some police men and men of the civil defence corps in company of an official of the Ministry of Finance removed the body and took it to the Federal Medical Centre morgue.
An eye witness said that when a search was conducted on the corpse, an eye glass and the sum of N15 was found on him.
Meanwhile, Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State has called on Chinese investors to explore the abundant resources in the state by investing in the state. The Governor made the call when he met with a delegation of the Nigeria-China business council, who called on him.
Orji specifically requested the Chinese businessmen to invest in the oil and gas, power, waste management, car manufacturing and agricultural sectors of the state, which he said, hold a lot of opportunities.
He assured that his administration had put machinery in place to guarantee the safety of investors, adding that the enabling environment for business to thrive had been put in place.
