Confederation of African Tennis has cleared the air on the alleged falsification of document by the sports minister and Chairman, National Sports Commission, Engineer Sani Ndanusa, in his bid to contest the NOC elections due next month.
CAT in a letter dated November 25, and signed by Raini Hichem stated that the document was not forged.
The letter in part read, “We are hereby writing to stress that letters sent from the Confederation of Africa Tennis (CAT) regarding Engr. Sani Ndanusa confirmation as CAT Vice President since April 2003, are genuine and authorised by Mr. Tarak Cherif, the CAT President.
“It is a fact that his signature is kept in our data system due to his tight schedule and movement around the world. In order to answer pressing issues such as this, we append his signature to any document after duly consulting him and having his authorisation to do so. “In view of the above, we expect that the Nigeria Olympic Committee will consider the confirmation letter sent from CAT and give Engr. Sani Mohammed Ndanusa all the necessary support due to his officeâ€, Hichem Raini said in the letter.
The NOC had earlier raised an alarm that Ndanusa, who is contesting the NOC presidency election, had forged some documents in his nomination papers.
When contacted, Ndanusa said the issue of alleged falsification of CAT president’s signature, was ridiculous.
“Some people go about tarnishing other people’s image for selfish gain. I cannot in my life present document that is not authentic. Why on earth should someone like me forge someone else’s signature?†he queried.
