Naija Designers in Diaspora
Duro trained as a lawyer and launched his label in 2005.He was named Best New Designer at the British Fashion Awards in the same year. His father is Nigerian and Mother ,Jamaican and he creates clothes that are joyful as he wants fashion to be.
His fast-track success was due mostly to the fact that Vogue’s Sally Singer and Barneys’ Julie Gilhart fell in love with his fluid jersey dresses that began his fashion career.
He seems to have mastered the art of mixing otherwise cacophonous prints to a good effect. He also does easy chic well and his clothes don’t look like they are trying too hard even though they have been meticulously conceived.
He is ever present in his Portobello Road store ensuring customer satisfaction in his warm manner. His clothes have been featured
