MAKURDI — A Group under the aegis of Women in Agriculture Association (WAA), has implored governments at all levels to address the perceived imbalances and marginalisation of the Nigerian women in the scheme of things in the country.
According to the Benue State coordinator of WAA, Mrs. Agatha Dzum, who spoke at a one-day media sensitisation seminar on improving women’s leadership and effectiveness in agricultural governance in North-Central Nigeria, regretted that women had completely been relegated to the background and treated unfairly in Nigeria.
Mrs. Dzum regretted that despite being responsible for over 70 per cent of the yearly production recorded in the agricultural sector, the Nigerian woman earn little as compensation for her input.
