FG urged to relocate Niger Delta ministry to the region

Port Harcourt – FOR the Niger Delta Ministry to be more effective in the region federal government has been urged to relocate it from Abuja to any state in the region.
Making the appeal, Secretary, Western Zone, Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Comrade Preye Okaba said the Ministry would be proactive in terms addressing challenges in the region when it is in the region. According to him, it would feel directly most of the pains in the region and monitor its programme in the area at little or no cost.
Meanwhile, President, Ogulagha Kingdom Youths, Comrade Shedrack Agediga has lauded the federal government’s resolve to grant 10% equity share from proceeds of oil production to oil-producing communities.
Adding, he said the federal government should consult widely before going implementation. He said this way authentic oil bearing communities would be identified.
“I want to plead that the President moves on to shore up the peoples’ confidence by providing legislation to back up the laudable 10% equity proposal for oil-producing communitiesâ€
