Fashola, Akpabio flay discriminations against women
AKWA Ibom State governor, Godswill Akpabio and his Lagos State counterpart, Babatunde Fashola (SAN), Friday, charged Nigerians to ensure that the vaults of opportunity in the country is open to all by judging people, based on the contents of their character and not their gender.
According to both governors, who spoke at the closing ceremony of the ninth National Women Conference of the Council of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO) at Victoria Island, the conference should serve as a bugle call for women to rise up and resolve their challenges.
Akpabio, who was special guest of honour, said the 2009 conference should be referred to as the defining moment in the history of the nation and the state, urging everyone to break barriers which had enclosed the womenfolk and set a level playing ground for them to express their potentials.
