EXECUTIVE chairman of the Delta State Board of Internal Revenue, Thomas Joel-Onowakpo, has said that the ongoing reforms of the tax administration in the state is to avoid duplication of efforts and to bring sanity to the system.
Joel-Onowakpo made this clarification while addressing the executive committee members of the Warri District of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) who paid him a courtesy visit at his office in Warri.
He described the visit of the ICAN members as timely because it came at a time the board is re-positioning for better performance and requested that as professional colleagues, they should uphold the motto of the Institute which is “ Accuracy and Integrity†in their dealings.
The revenue board chief executive officer advised the members of ICAN to always give appropriate quality advice to their clients without compromising accountability and transparency. Joel-Onowakpo said the board will continue to work with them because, as auditors, they have insider information about their clients and are in a better position to advise them on best practices.
Earlier in his speech, the chairman of ICAN, Warri District, Daniel Moju, said their visit to the board’s headquarters was to register their professional solidarity to the chairman, a member of ICAN, and to wish him a fruitful tenure.
