ABUJA—Preparatory to the upcoming Climate Change negotiation, the Federal Government has summoned a meeting of Nigerian negotiators to review her position for the conference.
The United Change Climate Conference of Parties to the Kyoto Protocol is scheduled to hold in Copenhagen, Denmark in December this year.
According to sources close to the Nigerian Designated National Authority, DNA, all those who will negotiate on behalf of Nigeria are being invited to a roundtable meeting in Abuja tomorrow. The meeting is at the directive of the Minister of Environment, John Odey.
A statement by Mr Yerima Peter Tarfa pointed out that four major issues would be discussed at the Roundtable meeting. The issues will include critical appraisal of the “non-papers†that came out from Bangkok and Barcelona; develop National strategies on how Nigeria should approach the negotiation; assign roles and responsibilities to each delegate; and brief delegates on logistical issues like accreditation, visa, accommodation.
