ABUJA—A Catholic Archbishop, Most Reverend John Onaiyekan has underscored value re-orientation among politicians in the country as the key to achieving good governance and sustainable development in Nigeria.
The Metropolitan of Abuja Archdiocese who stated during the enthronement of Most Reverend Emmanuel Adetoyese Badejo as the new Bishop of Oyo diocese, blamed the increasing cases of corruption and political crime in the country on collapse of ideals and principles while tasking political leaders to quit seeing power as a do or die affair but rather a service to God and humanity.
He further bemoaned the poverty level among Nigerians, disorientation of the youths, neglect of the aged and uncanny crave for power among the political class, as gray areas that must be given due consideration by the federal government with a view to mitigating crime rate in the country.
Reverend Badejo was anointed to take over from Bishop Julius Babtunde Adelakun as the Episcopal leader for the Oyo Diocese.
