ENUGU—BARELY 11 days to the local government election in Enugu State, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign train has moved to Nkanu West, Enugu South and Nkanu East Local Government Areas to solicit the votes the people of the area during the election.
The State Governor and leader of the party in the state, Mr. Sullivan Chime, led the campaign train to the areas and formally presented the party’s chairmanship flag-bearers and councilors to the electorate.
Addressing the party supporters and stakeholders at the headquarters of Nkanu West Local Government Council, Agbani, Governor Sullivan Chime thanked the people for their support to his government and the party, which he described as very encouraging.
The Governor specifically thanked the traditional rulers and PDP major stakeholders in the area, for the mature way they handled major political issues in the area and appealed to them to give their support to the new chairmanship candidate of the party in the area, Mr. Ekene Okenwa and those for the councillorship positions.
He told the people that the PDP-controlled government in Enugu State believes in consultation and was always ready to carry everybody along, adding that the party will not take it kindly with any elected officer, who fails to live up to the expectations of both the party and the people.
Also at Enugu South Local Government Area, Chime praised the outgoing chairman, Mr. Sam Ngene for his good works and urged the new chairmanship candidate for the area, Mr. Ndubueze Okafor, to do more to improve on what his predecessor achieved.
The Governor thanked the people for their support to his administration and PDP so far and appealed to them to translate their support into action during the forthcoming December 5, local government elections in the state.
