Apugo rallies support for Orji over PPA ‘bondage’

By Anayo Okoli
Umuahia—A PDP chieftain in Abia State and member of the party’s Board of Trustees (BOT), Chief Benjamin Apugo,  has called on the people of the  state to rally round and rescue Governor Theodore Orji from what he called,  the ‘bondage of his party, the Progressive People Alliance (PPA).’

According to Apugo, Governor Orji is being held bondage by the party, which he said is the reason the Governor is not developing the state with the resources that comes to the state.

Specifically, Apugo accused the PPA of  hijacking the state’s allocation “from source,” leaving the Governor with nothing to develop the state. According to him, the party has no interest in developing the state because it has no manifesto.

He said that he personally believes that Chief Orji has nothing to do with PPA, saying he is there by accident.
The PDP chieftain said that Abia State has enough allocation that could develop it,  but that the “PPA does not allow the Governor to bring the money back to Abia State for development”.

He said that Governor Orji as a person, has the interest to develop the state but blamed his woes on his party and some of its unnamed leaders.

Consequently, Apugo called on Abias to rally round and liberate the Governor from the clutches that holds him down in PPA.

He said that the state gets enough allocation to develop it, and dismissed as “nonsense”, the claim by the government that it has huge debt profile, which dated back to old Imo State.

“There is enough allocation that ought to come to Abia State. Allocation is being published monthly by the Federal Ministry of Finance. It is open, it is documented. There is enough that come to Abia State, but it does not get here, so the Governor should tell Abians why he is handicapped.

“I personally believe that the Governor is handicapped because the money does not get here for him to work with. I will want Abians to come together, let us bring out the Governor from the problem that he is into, so that the remaining one year,  he can use it to create more jobs, develop Abia State.

It will be enough for him to do something visible  because he has the mind do so,  but he is not allowed to do that by his party, the PPA, which has no manifesto.

“When the money comes, it is taken from source and he returns empty handed. We, Abias should tell the Governor to return home with all the money. Abias are suffering, but not by his (Orji’s) making, but the making of PPA, which is not good in administration and has no manifesto”, Apugo said.

He alleged that Governor Orji is being held bondage by his political godfather and a former Governor of the state.
