Accra Tennis Club storm Lagos

An eighty man contingent arrived Lagos Thursday night from Ghana to participate in the 2009 Nigeria-Ghana International Tennis Tournament beginning this weekend at the Ikoyi Club 1938, Tennis Section.
The tournament which is an annual competition between teams representing the tennis section of Ikoyi Club 1938 and the Accra Tennis Club of Ghana begins on Saturday with matches earmarked to commence from 9.00 am at Ikoyi Club 1938. Speaking to sportswriters on the event, Thursday, chairman of the tennis section, Ikoyi club 1938, Chike Orjiakor said the event was the tenth in the series and the club was taking it with all the seriousness it deserved.
Said Ojiakor, “the event marks the tenth anniversary of our annual meet. It behoves on us to celebrate such an event that has withstood the test of time despite the hardship occasioned by the global economic meltdown..â€
