With the Super    Eagles qualification for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa still reverberating across the globe, one of Nigeria’s leading banks, Access Bank Plc, is tantalising its customers with an opportunity to watch live UEFA Champions League games anywhere in Europe in a promo described as unprecedented by soccer followers.
Executive Director, Commercial Banking and Chairman of Access Bank UEFA Project, Mr. Obeahon Ohiwerei, said in a statement that the bank’s novel idea is to further push football interest and banking standards regarding customers’ satisfaction to a level never before experienced in the country.
He revealed that customers of the leading Nigerian bank are expected to grow an account of up to N100,000, which gives them an instant gift in the soccer promo. “The next step will be for them to grow same account to about N5million for at least 90 days and they would have qualified for an all-expenses paid trip to watch a UEFA Champions League game of their choice.
Venues of the draw and time are expected to be announced as the new promo gathers momentum.
Ohiwerei, debunked the idea of the promo as elitist, noting that the UEFA Champions League is the highest level of club soccer globally and as the officiall broadcast partner, the bank cannot afford to lower the standards. “We value our customers and cannot for any reason, lower international standards in an increasingly competitive world, especially as it concerns club football’s most competitive brand.â€
