ABUJA—Already, 2,045 Christian pilgrims from Lagos and Rivers States are in Jerusalem for this year’s Holy Pilgrimage, the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Mr John Kennedy Okpara has said.
Mr. Okpara who disclosed this to newsmen in Abuja, said, there was no restriction placed on the pilgrims by the Israeli authorities, adding that the pilgrims would also visit Jericho in batches.
On the security situation for the pilgrims, he said “It has been excellent. Arrangements had been concluded with Egyptian authorities for the pilgrims to visit Mount Sinai once 48 hours notice is given.
He also noted that about 500 pilgrims would be part of pilot scheme in Rome for the exercise, adding that he held useful discussions with Italian Embassy officials in Abuja.
