Ibori vs. EFCC: Judge defers ruling till Nov 23

By Austin Ogwuda
AMIDST water-tight security, scores of the loyalists to the immediate past Governor of Delta State, Chief James Ibori who thronged the Federal High Court Asaba yesterday went home disappointed as the expected ruling in the application filed by Chief Ibori seeking the court to strike out the charges preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission did not hold after all.

The Presiding Judge, Justice Marcel Awokulehin told the capacity filled court hall that he was deferring the ruling due to “some issues that came up between the last adjourned day and now, so ruling is adjourned to November 23”.

He did not expatiate. However, it will be recalled that the media has been awash recently over alleged petitions said to have been written against him (Judge) on the ground that he allegedly  wrote a letter to a London court, giving certain information about the case.

Lead counsel to Ibori, Mr. Ken Mozia, had pleaded with the Judge to choose an earlier date but his plea was turned down.

While pleading for earlier date for the ruling, Mozia “My Lord, the defendants have had this case hanging above their heads since 2007, like the sword of Damocles” so it would be helpful to have ruling earlier that than the date”.

It is only in Nigeria the corrupt politicians are set free by corrupt judiciary in Nigeria. If the judge in Mr. Ibori’s case sets him, no body will be surprised because money talks and he Mr . Ibori has connections with the top PDP men and women. If the courts in Nigeria are serious about corruption, cases involving corrupt politicians will not be taking too long to be decided but on contrary such cases are buried in their papers files waiting for huge sums of money to exchange hands before such politician is given a subjective ruling.

IBORI was the governor of Delta State and any issue concerning his tenure, as the governor of Delta state is of public interest. IBORI to be left alone, must address the followings and more. IBORI should give proper account of his stewardship to the Delta State and the Niger DElta. If all these and more are not addressed your must be assured that, we will not relent on our resolve, to get ALL the answers. How can we redeem our country and state if we all cow toe to political and ecconomic manipulation or chinnanighan. Pere please join the cursade to free our country, as condoning the status quo ante or doing nothing is not an option.

This is part of the crises we are now witnessing in the nigeria banks. we know that the final figure in this transaction will be about 73 billion naira.
People can run but they can not hide.
We need an explanation. More revelations are yet to come.
Show me one project Ibori completed, one road, one development project, just one but the records show that all the projects were fully paid for. All the road jobs of about 250 billion naira that he awarded with Manager , show one that was completed. Show me one project in Asaba, Warri, Sapele, Burutu, Bomadi, Agbor, Ndokwa, Ogwashi Uku, Ughelli, or any other place. Show me what Ibori did with all the 13% derivation fund, he collected on behalf of Delta state as governor. Shame on you for defending, someone like Ibori, who hid it from us that he is an exconvict and a convicted felon. Ibori swore on oath and on the constitution, that he is not an ex convict, when he knew that he is a common and hardened criminal ogbologbo. Ibori should be made to refund all the money, he collected and received as governor of the Delta state, as he was governor under false pretences. The AG and the ministry of justice, should hold him criminally liable, for these grave crimes. Shame on you Ibori supporters, for associating and defending this known criminal. Ibori will definitely pay for all his crimes and by the very Grace of The ALmighty very shortly too. AMEN!!!
