BENIN CITY — FORMER Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida, Governor of Gombe State, Alhaji Danjuma Goje, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Senator Adamu Aliero, are among notable Nigerians that would be conferred with fellowship awards in the forthcoming 17th convoca-tion of the Federal Polytech-nic, Auchi.
Other Nigerians who will also be conferred with the fellowship on the occasion scheduled for November 21, include Chairman, Daar Communication, Dr. Raymond Dokpesi, Chief Chris Orode, both of whom are alumni of the polytechnic, and also a post-humous fellowship on late Otaru of Auchi, Alhaji Momoh Oshiobele Odao.
Rector of the polytechnic, Dr Philipa Idogho, who disclosed this while briefing newsmen as part of the activities marking the 17th convocation, also disclosed that a total of 7,500 graduates of the institution were expected at the ceremony.
She said that those who would be conferred with the fellowship of the institution were Nigerians who had excelled in their various fields of endeavour, adding that the number of graduates made up of those who graduated from the institu-tion between 2004 and 2009.
According to her, the convocation will be preceded on the 20th by a lecture entitled, The Content of Technical Education Required to Drive Vision 20-20:20, which, according to her, would be delivered by Prof. Jerry Agada, the former Minister of State for Educa-tion.
Explaining why the perso-nalities were chosen for the award, Idogho said, “the late Otaru of Auchi would be recognized posthumously for his foresight and uncom-mon administrative capabi-lity.
“He was the person who provided the land for the establishment of the technical college that has now transformed into Auchi Polytechnic.
“General Babangida, on the other hand, was the one who announced the poly-technic as a federal institu-tion when he was President.
“They (recipients) have contributed in no small means to nation building and we want to encourage them by recognising their efforts,” she added.

On IBB and Dokpesi there is no problem with that as this two men are great leader and great business mogul respectively without mincing words. Dokpesi is a great son Afemai land and a great employer of labour.Thank you daddy you are a role model
No doubt about it, Auchi Polytechnic is the best polytechnic in Nigeria. The Exams and records department will send one’s result to his or her establishment on request without collecting a kobo. Congratulation Dr Mrs Philipa Idogho. I appreciate her right from when she was the Dean of spats.More power to my alma-mater
Congratulations to the Federal Polytechnic Auchi. Dr Philipa Idogho really has what it takes to lead an institution of higher learning. The personalities to be honoured all contributed to the development of the institution. However, I am surprised that late Gen. George Agbazika Innih is not being honoured posthumously, considering his immense contribution to the institution. The conspicuous omission of his name should be corrected urgently, for the sake of fairness.
