Soludo’s kidnap: Uba reports to Police

By  Vincent Ujumadu

AWKA—PEOPLES Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain and member of the party’s board of trustees, Chief Chris Uba,  yesterday reported at the office of the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Philemon Leha,  in obedience to an earlier invitation extended to him  by the state police command.

Though details of his discussion with the Police Commissioner, were not made public, Uba told newsmen at the police headquarters,  that his accuser’s aim was to malign him.

He also insisted that PDP was yet to nominate its candidate for the February 6, 2010 governorship election in the state, adding that members of the party were prepared to follow due process in carrying out the exercise.

The police boss said Uba made a statement along with other 23 former governorship aspirants and submitted video clips of the stakeholders meeting held the day Prof. Chukwuma Soludo’s father was kidnapped.

“I don’t have anything to tell you (media) now,  except to say that Chief Uba came because of the invitation we extended to him. Other stakeholders also made statements and we received the video clips of what transpired at the meeting held before Soludo’s father was kidnapped. I have to get the full report before making any statement,” the Police Commissioner said.

He also said that his command had formally invited Prof. Soludo to come and make statement on the kidnap of his father, adding “he has a case he is pursuing, so he will come”.

The Commissioner of Police said that the kidnappers had also reduced their ransom demand, from N300 million to N200 million, adding that whether it was politically motivated or not, all he knew was that the kidnappers are criminals and that he was still looking for them.

Leha, however, accused the media of fueling the kidnap issue, insisting that he never accused anybody of being responsible for the kidnap of Pa Soludo, but that there are presently two types of insecurity in Anambra State,  which include the one by the criminals and the other created by the politicians in the state.

The Nigerian police force or better put our security agencies in Nigeria are generally compromised. One wonders how a kidnapper like Chris Uba will come to police station and they collected video clips from him and let a kidnapper like Uba to be addressing the press inside police headquarters. This is an insult to the people of Anambra state. This man Uba is a criminal and a thug who introduced kidnapping in anambra state.
Infact,Chris Uba has an army of kidnappers who kidnap people for ransom for Chris Uba.He runs kidnapping as one of his business.
This is a man who kidnapped a sitting Governor of a state and police is treating him with a kid glove because they have been compromised.
It is so unfortunate that this illitrate in the person of Chris Uba who thinks that Anambra state is his backyard and property should is still walking in our streets as a free man after his many sins and atrocities against the state. It is really a pity but i believe that God will soon reward him accordinly very soon.

Many people chose to pay kidnappers and hostage takers as demanded to get early delivery of the victims and the investigation by police is halted whenever such happens…i think the best thing govt and soludo should do now is to povide the money and track it,afterall its human beings that will collect it and not spirit…i think that the treatment given to PA SOLUDO is not good with this time wasted considering his age,who knows if he is starved.
This is a shame to the police and other forces of nigeria who are no longer doing any intelligence or physical work – they do not think smart or look smart.
I dont even know if the police ever created website, where people can post their support and informations…because i know that many of us are afraid to embark on a journey to a police station in a suicidal mission to ASSIST the police do any investigation as you do not know who is even who.

The nigeria police should provide soludo money to go and give the kidnappers if they are really fighting this game called terrorism. Why can’t telecom companies open cell site to tell the police where this calls for settlement is coming from? Why was chris not treated like a kidnap suspect? (The man who introduced kidnapping in anambra state) no one commits or makes a criminal call in advanced countries and goes free even here at cotonou or togo, why are we not telling ourselves the truth because our telecom providers are more advanced than togo’ network. Police help us

Mr. Commissioner, please next time carry out a thorough investigation before going to the media to point fingers. You are a disgrace to the police force. Why hasn’t Soludo reported to the police that his dad was kidnapped? It makes me wonder!

Im begining to suspect this commisioner of police. His comment since the kidnap of pa soludo has been somewhat confusing. What is he doing with a video clip that does not contain the scene of the incident, besides if uba were to be ordinary nigerian would he (c.p) have offered invitation to him? I know he would have ordered his boys to arrest him immedietely he believed him to be a suspect. Let him stop fooling us. anambrarians..
