USA reject luxury bus driver

The poor organisationthat has trailed the preparation of the Fifa Under-17 World Cup came to a head yesterday when the United States of America’s team based in the Kano rejected their bus driver when he nearly had a fatal accident while on duty with the team on board.
It was gathered that the bus driver was showing signs of stress and almost hit an electric pole when he could no longer concentrate.
Also, the driver to the car attached to the American team does not understand English which has posed a great impediment in communication.
An inside source hinted yesterday that some of the teams are complaining that they were given vehicles without air condition while some teams got air-conditioned buses.
“On the whole, it has been very hectic operating in that centreâ€, an official confirmed yesterday.The official disclosed that the drivers will be changed after yesterday’s matches.
It was understood that the government gave waivers for the buses but the companies decided to give the teams old buses. Even the Transport Committee got five Old Camry Cars.
The source said instead of the transport sub-committee chieftains to make cases for the buses to be changed, they were pleading that the buses and cars should be accepted; an indication that they have masterminded the arrangement to go for old vehicles for the visitors.
