OWERRI—The United Nations Children Emergency Fund (UNICEF), ‘A’ Field office, Enugu, has distributed some electrical and electronic gadgets to two communities in Imo state, under its Communication for Development (C4D) project.
The benefitting communities are Umuago, Urualla and Umuokwara, Akokwa autonomous communities, all in Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo state.
Presenting the items, which included two cassette recorders, two VCD recorders and two 21-inch television sets, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Dr. Amanze Obi, urged the benefitting communities to jealously guard the gadgets.
“Please install the gadgets in your community’s viewing centres, since the discs have a lot to offer in the welfare of children and motherhood, especially as it concerns maternal and infant mortalityâ€, Dr. Obi said.
