UGHELLI—FORMER governorship aspirant in Delta State, Mr. Sunny Onuesoke, has decried the indiscriminate dredging of lands and urged Delta State government to setup a monitoring agency to check the activities of dredgers.
Onuesoke, who is a Special Project Director in Ughelli / Asaba road dualization, stated this yesterday while inspecting section ‘A’ of the road project. According to him, the dredgers are dredging arable farmlands without considering the risk it poses to the lives of those living in the area.
He said the activities of the dredgers also threaten the economy of the people and urged the state government to commence the issuance of dredging licence to prospective dredgers, pointing out that it would help to check the activities of indiscriminate dredging in the state.
He told Deltans to rise up to the challenges of reporting the activities of indiscriminate dredgers to government.
