Despite crowd trouble which almost marred last weekend Champions league second-leg semi- final between Kano Pillars and Heartland, the Nigeria 2009 Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the FIFA Under-17 World Cup Kano a clean-bill to host the FIFA Under- 17 World Cup billed for October 24 to November 11.
The home fans held up the game during the Champions League semi-final, which Heartland won by a lone goal and that raise questions about the ability of the LOC to contain the excesses of Kano fans during the Nigeria 2009 Under-17 World Cup. But According to LOC chairman, Sanni Lulu Kano can provide a conducive atmosphere for the tournament.
“Kano is ready for the tournament, though there are few areas that needs to be 100 percent.
“There will be adequate security, provision is being made for that and in terms of facilities Kano is ready to host the world from what I have seen. ‘’We are really appreciating the support of Kano state governor, Malam (Dr.) Ibrahim Shekarau for his total commitment in providing the conducive atmosphere toward ensuring not only the success of the project, but also the championship.â€
