The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has smashed a syndicate which specialised in smuggling hard drugs within the country through courier, arresting two suspects .

The suspects, according to the agency’s Head, Public Affairs, Mr Ofoyeju Mitchell, were arrested with 550 grammes of substance discovered  to be cocaine. The substance, he said, were concealed in an oil filter and sent through  courier to Abuja post office.

The suspects, Okafor Eberechukwu and Chika Odili Okeke, who are currently being detained at the Abuja office of the anti-narcotic agency, he said, were arrested on a tip-off by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Commander, Mrs Omolade Omole.

“Okafor Eberechukwu, an automobile parts dealer at Zuba motor parts market, was first arrested after receiving the parcel at the Abuja Central Post Office while Chilka Odili was nabbed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport,  Abuja, on arrival from Lagos to collect the parcel. The suspects have owned up to the crime.

“Okafor in his statement said he was called by Chika to collect the parcel and send it to him in Lagos,” Ofoyeju said.
