Attempt by a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member to smuggle hard drug suspected to be cocaine out of the country has been foiled by officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Lagos State Command .
The 27-year-old Corps member identified as Otabor Michael was arrested while on his way to the Murtala Muhammed International Airport.Â Michael, a graduate of Accountancy from The Federal Polytechnic Bida, Niger State, was reportedly caught with 84 wraps of substancesÂ which tested positive to cocaine.
The drug which weighed 1.150 kiligrammes, according to Lagos State Commander, Mr Wesley Midala, was ingested by the suspect who was on his way to South Africa.
After he was apprehended, Michael, servingÂ at Keffi local government area of Nasarawa State,Â Â Â reportedly vomited seven wraps of the substances and excreted 77 others.
The suspect, according to the Agencyâ€™s Lagos State Commander, â€œwas intercepted on Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at about 9 p.m. in a taxi while on his way to the airport based on a tip off.
