UGHELLIâ€”THE member representing Ughelli North local government area constituency 1 inÂ Delta State House of Assembly, Mr. Friday Onodjae, has donated at least five notebooks each to pupils of all the 33 public primary schools and some selected private primary schools in the constituency.
Making the donation yesterday, Onodjae said the donation was borne out of his desire to contribute to the educational well being of the people of his constituency.
He said it was his dream to contribute his quota to the educational advancement of the people of the constituency within the limits of his resources, adding that he was determined to boost the educational standard of schools in the area.
Onodjae told the pupils to take advantage of the gesture to improve on themselves educationally, reiterating that the notebooks were meant for their class works. He added that he was poised to make the constituency first among equals both in education and other spheres of life.
Appealing to the teachers to be dedicated to their duties and impact the required knowledge on the pupils, Onodjae enjoined the pupils to be punctual at school.
He also urged parents and guardians to ensure that their children/wards go to school on time and every day.
According to him, any society or community without educated persons in this jet age is doomed to be under-developed and pointing out that education was a catalyst for development of an area.
The Chief Inspector of Education in the area, Mr Felix Akporugo, commended Onodjae for the donation and noted that it would go a long way in alleviating the sufferings of the pupils and financial burden on their parents/guardians.
Akporugo charged other political representatives and public spirited individuals across the country to emulate the good gesture of Onodjae by contributing in their own little way to the upliftment of education in their areas.
