PORT HARCOURT—A RIGHT group, Centre for Environment, Human Rights and Development (CEHRD), has dragged a firm owned by a business mogul in the country to court for terminating the appointment of one of its staff, Mr. Celestine Kegiri, a trained carpenter who sustained industrial accident while in the employ of the firm
According to Coordinator of the right group, Mr. Patrick Naagbanton, the employee contacted them to intervene on his behalf when his employers were not taking any step to assist after he had the industrial accident which had made him unproductive.
He said the group wrote a letter to the company on the issue, adding that what the firm did as a response was to terminate the employment of the victim.
“We view the company’s behavior as disdainful and belligerent. We shall explore all constitutional measures in and outside Nigeria to get justice for Kegiri,†the group vowed.
The victim, Mr. Kegiri, said life had become very difficult for him and wife and two children since the accident.
