Ijaw in Edo ask 2 lawmakers give account
By Emma Amaize
WARRI—IJAW in Edo State weekend asked the lawmakers representing them in the House of Representatives, Ehiogie West-Idahosa and his counterpart in Edo State House of Assembly, Clifford Adesotu, to give account of the constituency projects they have delivered in their areas since they assumed office.
Vice chairman of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) in-charge of Edo, Delta and Ondo states, Mr. Andrew Igiri, who made the call, alleged that the people of their constituencies were yet to feel the impact of their representation.
He said:  “We are taking the bull by the horn by starting from Ovia South-West and Ovia North-East local government areas where I come from in Edo State. Adesotu has spent more than two years in the House of Assembly and should come and explain what he has done for Ovia South-West constituency, for we know that there are constituency projects in the House which he must deliver to the people.
“Same thing is applicable to West-Idahosa, representing Ovia South-West and Ovia North-East constituency in the House of Representatives, who has been there for third tenure and yet nothing to show, no youth empowerment and no job opportunities.
“To avoid public disgrace and embarrassment, they should come and give account of developmental projects they have done for their constituency, for gone are the days when politicians will be elected into positions for themselves and their pockets.â€
According to him, the IYC will leave no stone unturned in joining hands with the federal and state governments to address the issues of underdevelopment of Niger-Delta states because it will help in addressing youth restiveness in the society.
