Umuahia—SCARCITY of petrol has brought economic and social activities in Umuahia, the capital city of Abia State to a complete halt.
Except at the NNPC Mega station, located on the outskirts of Umuahia, all the petrol stations in the town did not sale fuel yesterday.
Even at the NNPC station, the situation was chaotic, as two queues of about five kilometers were noticed.
Investigations by Vanguard showed that petroleum marketers in the city were creating artificial scarcity, as they only sell at night at inflated prices of between N85 and N120.
The activities of the petrol station owners, have subjected the residents of Umuahia and its environs to untold hardship, as the number of commercial vehicles on the roads in the city had reduced drastically because most of them end up spending the whole day on queue for fuel at the NNPC station.
