Ahead of the commencement of the FIFA under-17 football tournament this weekend in Nigeria, the Police high command in Abuja said yesterday that it has put up a water tight securityÂ network nationwide to ensure a smooth and safe hosting of the global sports fiesta.
to a statement signed by the Force ublic Relations officer, ACP Emmanuel Ojukwu, the Inspector General of Police himself, personnally supervised the operational order for the effective coverage of all the states, cities and centres for the events.
Towards this end, anti_riot police officers and men have been deployed to strategic locations to ensure water tight security while intelligence and detective operatives as well as full compliments of Police dogs and horses haveÂ been deployed to states and cities to supportÂ the forces.
The statement reads, “The Nigeria Police is glad to inform Nigerians and the world at large, of it preparedness to provide water_tight security for a smooth and safe hosting of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup football tournament, commencing at various centres in Nigeria, on 24th October, 2009”.
