UGHELLIâ€”THE councillor representing Orogun ward 4 in Ughelli North local government area ofÂ Delta State, Mr. Goodluck Etinagbedia, has donated 74 writing desk/benches to the three public and two private primary schools in the ward.
He also donated exercise books to pupils who took first and second positions in the schools.
Presenting the items to the schools, Etinagbedia said the gesture was his personal token contribution to the advancement of education in his ward.
He said he was determined within the limits of his resources to contribute to the educational well being of his people, saying he was poised to boost the educational standard of the schools.
Etinagbedia charged the pupils to take advantage of the gesture to improve on themselves and appealed to the school heads to make good use of the writing desks/benches.
In his remark, chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in the local government area, Chief Alfred Onavwa, hailed the initiative of Mr. Goodluck Etinagbedia.
Onavwa, who was represented by Mr. Peter Gbagbeke, urged councillors across the country to emulate the good gesture of Mr. Etinagbedia, adding that the PDP was committed to improving on the living standard of the electorates.
Chief Shedrack Imonieroh and Chief Khalim Ofomukoro, both chieftain of the party in the state, said the gesture was first of its kind in the history of Ughelli North local government constituency Also speaking during the ceremony, the eldest man in Ugono- Orogun, Chief Akpojotor Akpro prayed God to grant Mr. Goodluck Etinagbedia more resources in his determination to contribute to the wellbeing of his people.
Receiving the items of behalf of the schools, the headmaster of Ugono primary school, Orogun, Mr. Joseph Akpovona, thanked the councillor for the donations.
