Umuahia—Abala community of Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia state has commended Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, representing Abia South zone, for donating some items, including food, to the community which was sacked few months ago by the police over allegation of harbouring criminals.
During the attack, many families in the community were said to have had their houses burnt down by the police, while many others lost one item or the other.
Those who fled the community in the heat of the crisis became refugees in neighbouring communities.
Worried by the development, Senator Abaribe, desirous of the need for the community to return to normalcy, approached the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) for assistance for the displaced people.
The agency subsequently obliged the community by supplying it with relief materials.
