BUA bags international award for quality

FOR its consistency in  churning out high quality products, meeting international standards, BUA Group has been conferred with an International Star Award for Quality, 2009 by the Business Initiative Directions (BID), in France.

According to a statement by the company, the award which was presented by Mr. Jose E. Prieto, President of BID at the International Quality Convention 2009, in France, was as a result of the company’s commitment to the production of high quality products and for its observance of strict international standard in its operations.

He said, “BUA Group was voted for the award because it met all the criteria which are based on quality, leadership, technology, management, customer satisfaction, brand name and business results.”

According to the report, BID is an international association that is dedicated to the promotion of quality culture and continuous improvement of companies from around the world.

It further noted that the event which was held at the Concorde La Fayette, Paris, had in attendance personalities from the business world and diplomatic circle, which included, the Minister for Economic, Trade and Investment at the Nigerian Embassy, Paris, France, Mr Rasheed Akinkuolie, who represented the country’s Ambassador.

BUA Group was represented at thee occasion in Paris by the Group Executive Director, Mr. Chimaobi Madukwe.BUA Group is a wholly indigenous conglomerate established in 1988 as trading company but today has interests spanning manufacturing, ports & terminals, oil & gas, property development, among others. The company aims to build a world class company that can compete with the best in the world.

Today in the manufacturing sector, the Group has businesses in flour milling, owns the second largest sugar refinery in West Africa, vegetable/ground nut oil milling.

It also recently acquired majority shareholding in Cement Company of Northem Nigeria Plc (CCNN), Sokoto and Edo Cement Company (EDC), Okpella. This is in addition to its other cement businesses in other parts of the country.
