AWKA—The Judicial Committee set up by Anambra State Government to investigate the lingering crisis in the Electronics Dealers International Market in Onitsha has submitted its report to Governor Peter Obi.
Presenting the report, chairman of the committee, Justice Joseph Emekwue (rtd), noted that though the problem of the market was delicate and complex, it could be surmounted if all the parties involved exhibited goodwill and sincerity.
He stressed the need for the traders and other stakeholders to display human virtues of honesty and integrity in order to restore genuine peace and unity in the market in their own interest and in the interest of the larger society.
Receiving the report, the Governor pledged that his administration would always follow due process in settling disputes in line with its policy of entrenching harmonious co-existence to pave way for sustainable development.
Governor Obi, who was represented by the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Emmanuel Chukwuma, explained that the committee was set up to find a lasting solution to the crisis that had engulfed the market over the years.
