Amnesty holds peace prospects in N-Delta – Onya
By Festus Ahon
UGHELLI—THE co-ordinator, Uduaghan Vision, Mr. Jude Onya, has said the amnesty offer and acceptance held the prospects of guaranteeing peace in the Niger Delta and Delta State in particular.
Onya made the assertion while speaking on the challenges of Uduaghan administration and commended him for his effort to convince the high command of MEND to accept the amnesty offer.
According to him, the amnesty offer of President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua is the greatest gift to them in Delta State, against the backdrop of the peace and security agenda of Governor Uduaghan’s administration.
He said: “I have no doubt in my mind that acceptance of the offer is genuine and the struggle will enter into another level, that is tasking development right to the heart of Niger Delta.â€
On the cabinet shake up in the state, he said “it is a right step in the right direction, as it is meant to rejuvenate the executive council to execute the programmes of government and manifestoes of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP).â€
To this end, Onya called on Deltans and supporters of the PDP to stand up in support of the governor and expect more dividends of democracy.
He challenged critics of Uduaghan’s administration to be more constructive in their criticism, noting that the governor was doing well in all ramifications.
