I remain PDP flagbearer, says Soludo

By Vincent Ujumadu

Awka – THE embattled governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the February 6, 2010 election in Anambra State , Prof Chulwuma Soludo declared, last night, that he was not aware of any court stopping him from parading himself as the flag bearer of the party.  He said he was pursuing his ambition with renewed vigour. “It is all rumour.

I am still the candidate of the party and I remain so until the party declares otherwise,” he told members in Awka after receiving decampees from the Progressive Peoples Alliance, PPA..

In the meantime, the party’s national publicity secretary, Prof. Rufai Alkali hinted yesterday in Awka that all the brains behind the Abuja High Court action on Friday would be sanctioned. A source at a meeting held at the new Soludo Campaign Organization headquarters in Awka said members of the PDP national leadership were not amused by the court action which is threatening the party’s chances in the governorship race in the state.

Alkali, who represented the national chairman of the party, Prince Vincent Ogbulafor at the reception of the decampees, said that the party has ways of resolving its internal matters, and that those who chose to go to court at this crucial time in the process for the 2010 election did not mean well for PDP and would, therefore, be disciplined by the party.

He said that the party would do everything possible to ensure that Soludo was elected governor of the state next year to enable him deliver dividends of democracy to the people of Anambra State. He commended all the aspirants who vied with Soludo and have decided to team up with him in the interest of the party, noting that their action was an indication of their desire to see that PDP regained the Awka Government House.

During the ceremony, the former national vice chairman of PPA, Chief Austin Ndigwe decamped with 19 local government chairmen and secretaries of the party to PDP, and he announced that all former offices of PPA in most of wards have been closed down.

There is no doubt that most of you here are ignorant of some facts and dates,So it will be in your best interest to listing and see reason with me and other well meaning anambarians, especially you Hilary who is insulting person of high calibers anambarians like Dr.Chris the likes of prof Soludo.and Dr Andy Uba,it will be unfair to condem the person of well meaning citizens like this when they has not been fund guilty of any ofence.so who so ever emerge the governor let him be.
the emerge of prof soludo as the pdp flag bearer is on the positive side to your dear state,he has performed very well at the cbn, when he come in there was no bank in country he lay-ed the foundation that orchard in Sanusi performance, you cant expect soludo to do it all he has contributed his own and left the cbn and has come down to his state to pay his own contribution which is highly needed,we need an ideologist and a great economics like him who can make plans that will bring about the project that will stand the test of time, what he did at the cbn has been followed up by sanusi that is cudos to him,he initiated the idea of polymer note today the current cbn governor has move you to deploy more energy on that ,he tryed to sanitize the banking industry by his consolidation exercise that brought about the 24 existing banks in the country today sanusi is trying to sanitize it more and promise to bring down the number down more,so you see it is a continues process of foundation layed by soludo, and people like peter obi should understand how things work in governance by following good foundation layed by his predecessors rather than political criticism, it make no point trying to by the minds of anambarians by criticize your predecessor and abandoning good project initiated by them just like in the case of oba international airport and in the case of ikenga hotel and so on.
be wise to vote for Prof Chukwuma Soludo this is not about pdp agent is about a man with good service quality and good conduct.

Management of financial institutions is different from management different groups of people with different ways of thinking and behaviour. So I feel that Prof. Chukwuma Soludo is still needed in the accademic world.

Let PDP go to US and ask Obama to come and contest for them in Anambra State, they (PDP) will never rule Anambra State again, as far as we are praying to the Great Jehovah (the Creator of the Universe). Their central government right from Obasanjo to now, has failed Nigerians. What are they going to offer us since the centre could’nt? How many times did Obasanjo remove fuel subsidy during his tenure? Now they’re about removing almost what is left – a case of “taking some pints of blood from a kwashiokor patient”.
My central message here is that Soludo (PDP) will have nothing to offer Anambra State but upheavals here and there like they have been doing since 1999.

Whether he was propped up by an individual is irrelevant cos without that stepping stone, the story would have been largely unknown. Lets hope is not a trademark and Prof. Soludo will not turn an ingrate in the course of time.

  6. Alele Okpolokpo1, Edo State says:

I thought this matter has long been settled? Yes, we already have his manifestoes but my only disappointment is that Prof. Soludo has not thought it fit to announce his cabinet members. Please someone, way forward oo!

Ebube Utomi must so naive about things to say that Chukuma Soludo was a good CBN Governor. What did he handover to Lamido Sanusi? What we are seeing today in the banking system did not start this year. Soludo must have seen the rot but did not act, either out of fear or was part of it. A true academic having been CBN Governor will not rush into politics the way he has done. We have seen now that people like him and Dora Akunyuli are opportunists and they do not belong to the category of rare Nigerians like, Ribadu, El-Rufai, Okunju-Eweala, Oby Ekwesili, Lamido Sannusi.

  8. Antonia Tagbajumi says:

What has Soludo got to offer? Hw failed all nigerians as the CBN gov,so what is he going to offer now?
