2010 World Cup: We can’t let this opportunity slip away -Tunisian Coach

By Tony Ubani
Tunisian national team coach Humberto Coelho has reminded the Carthage Eagles on the need to maintain their positive attitude as they tackle the Harambee Stars of Kenya in Sunday’s World Cup qualifier.

The Coach who is still savouring the 2-2 draw against Nigeria’s Green Eagles that ensures that they remain top of the table with eight points said that team spirit would see them beat Kenya and face Mozambique with the might of all Tunisians.

“I’m still very happy with the performance of the team over Nigeria. My players negotiated that match with a great team spirit. They didn’t let anything go, they fought till the very end. With more efficiency and some luck we are very close to qualifying.

We’re not going to stop now. We need to continue our path with the same hard work, determination, concentration, and mindset.”
The Portuguese trainer also took the opportunity to thank the entire squad aside from just the players.

“We don’t just have 11 players on the pitch, we have a group that is united for better or worse. That’s where the strength of this Tunisian group resides. We are one team that works for each other. That is our strength. We are so close to picking the World Cup ticket and the spirit of oneness will always win results,” he added.

The Carthage Eagles are now on eight points and still two ahead of rivals Nigeria with two matches to play. But back home, optimism of a possible slip by the North Africans are soaring so that Nigeria can over-take them and qualify for the World cup in South Africa.
