WARRIâ€”THE Provost ofÂ College of Education, Warri, Prof. Igho Joe, has charged the Committee of Bursars of Colleges of Education in Nigeria (COBCOEN), to articulate strategies towards meeting the resource gap in funding education by devising means of generating funds internally.
Prof. Igho Joe gave the charge in his address to the bursars at this yearsâ€™ Annual General Meeting, AGM, held at the school premises in Warri last weekened.
According to him, the opportunity offered by the meeting of all bursars of Colleges of Education in the country should enable them compare notes for the sole purpose of designing ways and means in which their functions could further add value to their respective institutions.
Prof. Joe described the AGM as timely in view of perennial funding crises facing the education sector in the country and urged them to deploy their financial management techniques within the context of current socio-political milieu to enhance internally generated revenue.
Imploring them to be more efficient in resource utilization within the frame work of tactical and strategic plans of their various institutions, Prof. Joe reminded them to be steadfast and transparent in all their actions to create the needed harmony in the schools.
The AGM ended with the election of a new executive headed by Mr. Amrakpor Grant as Chairman; Mr. A. Akinlabi, Vice; Sir. Dan Ovbiegeli, Secretary. Others elected are Mr. Michael Ekunife, Financial Secretary; Mr. E.A. Oresegun, Welfare Secretary with Messrs Bosua Godwin and Folasade Sogaolu as Auditors respectively.
