ENUGU – SUPPORTERS of the Progressive People’s Alliance (PPA) have been urged to remain resolute and ignore media attacks on the leadership of the party by former members.
Pioneer National Secretary of PPA and member Board of Trustees (BOT), Chief Sam Nkire, who gave the advice to the party faithfuls across the country while reacting to the purported crisis in the party, urged them not to reply to baseless allegations by the former members against the leadership of the party.
Chief Nkire, who spoke with newsmen at the Enugu Airport on his way to Awka, Anambra state for the conclusion of the party’s congresses at the Ward, Local Government and State levels, described the development as a political joke.
He said once PPA members were able to ignore the “ranting of the renegadesâ€, the ex-members were bound to look for other means of livelihood, adding that their substance can only be enhanced by replies from PPA leadership and members.
Chief Nkire said the former members, who still claim membership of the party may have their names listed in their private notebooks but that the only way to have their names listed in the official register of the PPA again was for them to apologize and reapply.
He, however, promised that the party would ensure a free, fair and transparent conduct of congresses in Anambra state, just as he advised both candidates and delegates not to see the exercise as a “must-win battle†or a “do or die affairâ€.
