OSOGBO – The President of Nigeria Guild of Editors (NGE) and the Editor-in-Chief of Vanguard Newspapers, Mr. Gbenga Adefaye was among the twenty nine personalities who were honoured yesterday by the Osun State Government for their excellent performances in their respective fields of specialization.
Also honoured alongside Adefaye were two former chairmen of the state chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Mr Lekan Awoyemi and Mr Kayode Akinsola as well as Alhaji Liadi Tella, a former Managing Director of Monitor Newspapers.
Besides, Mrs Julianah Adewola Adeniran, a retired teacher was honoured for her honesty when she returned over One million naira wrongly paid into her bank account for her gratuity, Chief Alabi Ogundepo, Yoruba actress Mrs Toyin Oladiran (a.k.a. Abeni Agbon) and Elder Samson Eluwole.
Speaking at the ceremony in Osogbo Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola reiterated the determination of his administration to continue to reward excellence and outstanding contribution.
Governor Oyinlola said the annual merit award ceremony was inaugurated at the inception of his administration to reward honesty as well as encourage the people of the state to put in their best in their respective endeavours.
