BENIN – Edo State governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has said anybody, including governors and legislators, who in any way champions a cause against Western education is a Boko Haram.
A statement by the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, Mr. John Mayaki, said: “Comrade Adams Oshiomhole’s policies and programmes on education seem to have been misunderstood by some self-seeking politicians who do not see any good in utilising the over N5.4 billion sourced for its State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).
“The governo’s intentions for schools in Edo state are misconstrued by some elements and as such would not screen the appointed members of the Board to address the messy challenges confronting our educational system.
“These set of people acting as hindrances to our educational system are not different from Boko Haram.”
“The situation in the state as regards primary and post primary education is terrible. A tour round the schools would reveal shocking conditions that prevail in our schools where we have several classrooms without roofs, ceilings, windows, and chairs.
