SAPELE – OKPE leaders of thought with such notable members as the Orodje of Okpe, Orhue 1, renowned accountant and Second Republic Senator, Chief David Dafinone, Prof Sam Oyovbaire, Chief Thompson Okpoko (SAN) among other notable leaders from Okpe kingdom, last weekend lashed out at some political actors in Delta State who have constituted themselves into clogs in the wheel of progress in the kingdom

The leaders, who met in Sapele for several hours behind closed door, advised elected officials and political appointees from the kingdom not to allow the rancour and bitterness, which forced outsiders to manipulate the political process of the area in 2003 and 2007 to recur in 2011.

General Secretary of the group and former director, Department of Petroleum Resources, Chief Macaulay Ofurhie, told newsmen in Sapele that a reconciliation committee had been set up to resolve the differences among elected officials and political appointees in Sapele and Okpe Local Government areas.

“The past should be regarded by all concerned as dead and buried and since political actors would not like to remember the past, they should forge closer links of brotherhood, cooperation and solidarity as they move toward 2011.”
