THE Lagos State Government yesterday said the Okota/Itire Oshodi-Apapa Expressway link bridge still under construction will be completed and commission for use before the end of December 2009.
The state government announced, weekend, plan to diverts traffic on both side of the expressway from main carriageway to service lane to allow for proper fixing of longititudinal beams of the bridge.
Special Adviser to Governor Babatunde Fashola on Works and Infrastructure, Mr. Ganiyu Johnson, who disclosed this at the multi-billion naira site of the project during the launch of 17 longitudinal beams across the main carriageway of the the bridge, said the state government was committed to every word it pronounced concerning the project which second phase is 75 per cent completed.
Pointing out that all piling jobs have been completed, the Special Adviser commended the effort of theÂ firm handling the job, adding that government was looking forward to seeing the project completed as scheduled.
Johnson appealed to Lagos residents over inconveniences the temporary road diversion must have caused them following the closure of the main carriageway.
