AWKA – Governor Peter Obi has laid the foundation stone of a skill acquisition centre in Umuoji in Idemili North Local Government Area of the state, which is aimed at creating job opportunities for the teeming unemployed youth in the area.
Speaking at the project site, Obi said that his administration was committed to making the state a better place for all and called for lasting peace in all communities across the state with a view to creating a better society.
He explained that the state government was working to developÂ all the 177 communities of the state and assured the people of Umuoji that when completed, the centre would be of great benefit to the town.
Chairman of caretaker committee of Umuoji Improvement Union, Mr. Augustine Onyedika, said that the community would remain grateful to Governor Obiâ€™s fatherly and timely intervention in the appointment of a caretaker committee for the town.
He assured that the majority ofÂ people of the town remained loyal to Governor Obi, stressing that the Governor has again demonstrated his love for the community by laying the foundation of the skill acquisition centre.
On his part, the traditional ruler of the town, Igwe Dr. Cyril Enweze, acknowledged the achievements of Governor Obi in the town, especiallyÂ in the areas of water supply, distribution of computers to schools, renovation of classroom blocks, healthcare projects and provision of funds by government for security and remedial work on roads.
