MAIDUGURI â€”Â APPARENTLY disturbed by the high rate of brain drain in the North-Eastern part of the country, particularly Borno, the National Teachersâ€™ Institute (NTI) will in October organise one week re-training programme for primary school teachers in the six states of the North-East geo-political zone.
Borno State coordinator of NTI, Hajiya Aishatu Zaifada, told newsmen in Maiduguri that the one-week capacity building was put together by the institute in Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Yobe and Taraba as refreshing exercise for the primary school teachers to boost the primary education in the area.
She called on governments in the six states to concentrate more on the development of primary education, pointing out that primary school level is the solid foundation on child educational upbringing.
She also appealed for support and cooperation to allow the training programme succeed, adding that, time had come for government and people in the area to reappraise the standard of education in their zone even as she reminded the teachers of the need to improve themselves as professionals.
Hajiya Zaifada said: â€œPart of the mandate of the NTI is to train and retrain teachers and we have chosen the month of October for this programme.”
