The Nigeria Premier League in its bid to have a TV friendly pitches for the 2009/2010 league season and to consolidate its current ranking in Africa has appointed five credible football technocrats to carry out stadia facilities inspection.
Top among the list of inspectors is former NFA Secretary General, Hon. Ahmed Sani Toro who will carry out the inspection on MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta,Â Ilaro Intâ€™l Stadium, Akure Township Stadium and Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan.Â Also among the team is CAF/FIFA instructor Chief Adegboye Onigbinde who will inspect Sardauna Memorial Stadium, Gusua and Kaduna Township Stadium.
Hon. Lumumba D. Adeh will handle Dan Anyam Stadium, Owerri, Enyimba Intâ€™l Stadium, Aba and Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, EnuguÂ with Chief Shegun Odegbami (MON) taking care of Abubakar Umar Memorial Stadium, Gombe and Tarfawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi.
Mr. Paul Bassey will inspect Aper Aku Stadium, Markurdi, Bako Kontagora Stadium, Minna and Ilorin Township Stadium respectively.
The inspection teams are expected to look mainly at the facilities/equipment which include the general state of the playing turf with its dimension and the nature of the grass.
Other areas to be inspectedÂ include; toilet facilities/ dressing room, press gallery, medical facilities, substitution benches, reserve referees table, score board, water condition, perimeter fence, state box, floodlights, TV camera stands, seat arrangements andÂ host of other vital areas.
This yearâ€™s inspection exercise will hold between 5th to 10th September, 2009 in the selected stadia which is part of the pre-season programmes towards the commencement of a new league season.
