MAKURDI – As governments and well meaning individuals continue to pay tribute to the late human rights activist and anti-corruption crusader, Chief Gani Fawehinmi (SAN), the Chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association, Makurdi chapter, Mr. Donatus Zuanah, has called on the Federal Government to rename the Nigeria Law School, Lagos after the late activist.
Zuanah noted that his call stemmed from the fact that the late Chief Fawehinmi stood himself out among his contemporaries stressing that the contributions of the legal luminary to the growth and development of the law profession was unequalled, hence he deserved the recognition.
According to the NBA chairman, who spoke to newsmen in Makurdi, “the legal profession has indeed lost one of its finest stars; his death is indeed a monumental loss of epic proportions, not only to the legal profession but the entire nation.â€
He described the legal luminary as a dogged, fearless, courageous, consistent and committed Human Rights activist who fought hard for the liberation and welfare of the masses which earned him the sobriquet ‘Senior Advocate of the Masses’.
He stated that the late anti corruption crusader was not only a legal luminary of international repute but was also a great statesman who was fervently committed to the ideals of good governance, rule of law, transparency, due process and selfless service to humanity.
