OWERRI – Champion Newspapers Publisher and chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, has expressed regrets that past governments in the country did not make adequate arrangements for the provision of gainful employment for the nation’s teeming school leavers.
Chief Iwuanyanwu, who briefed newsmen in Owerri on a number of national issues, including the activities of Governor Ikedi Ohakim’s New Face Organisation (NFO), said “regrettably too, the education acquired from higher institutions at the moment does not prepare the youths to be creators of job, rather it has made them seekers of jobs.
This situation is very serious and most of the social ills we have today can be traced to the problemâ€.
According to Iwuanyanwu, who doubles as Chairman, Board of Trustees, New Face of Imo Organisation, a national summit for job creation would be organised in the state before the end of the year.
“The summit will no doubt produce a broad programme for tackling the unemployment problem in Nigeria. It is clear that the moral fabric of the society is being seriously destroyed. Something must be done by NFO to ensure that this is haltedâ€, he said.
To achieve this, he said the organisation would cooperate with various organs of government to ensure that corruption was wiped out from the system.
“We will soon hold meetings and discussions with all those concerned with the education of our youths. This includes the clergies and school administratorsâ€, Iwuanyanwu added
